An important step to quit smoking is a quit smoking plan. You need to
identify situations that makes you smoke and
plan ways to deal with quitting and cravings.
Identify Situations
Identify situations where you feel like a cigarette and find ways of dealing with or avoiding these situations. These situations may be:
- feeling like you need a cigarette to get you through stressful times
- smoking gave you something to do when you were bored
- smoking because it relaxes you
- you find it hard to say no if offered a cigarette, smoking helps you feel more sociable
- smoking out of habit, eg smoking first thing in the morning
- you feel more self confident and in control when smoking
